How Can I Help?

GIVE TO SUPPORT URGENT NEEDS CREATED BY COVID-19:  We’re working diligently to make sure our homeless intervention system stays strong in the face of a global pandemic.  The CoC’s non-profit members need your help now more than ever, to ensure shelter-in-place opportunity is available for those experiencing homelessness, that we can prevent the spread of COVID-19 among one of the populations most vulnerable to becoming infected by communicable diseases, that we are able to provide the tools for staff on the frontlines to be safe while they complete their essential and life-saving work, and that the doors of our agencies stay open while this public health crisis is resolved.  Please help our agencies help others stay safe and sheltered by donating and sharing the United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County’s COVID-19 Urgent Needs Fund

We’re also utilizing intergovernmental, faith-based and business community partnerships to establish quarantine sites for those at risk and experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.  Community members and CoC partners looking to support this initiative are invited to contact Claire Shanahan at cshana@milwaukee.gov to discuss meeting current needs of those sheltered safely at hotels.

GIVE TO SUPPORT UNMET NEEDS:  We’re making sure people moving on from homelessness into a home do so with dignity.  Help us bridge the homeless services gap for furniture and essentials such as furniture, sheets and cleaning supplies that everyone needs as they move into a new home.  Want to provide household items directly to people moving on from homelessness to housing?  Take a look at the CoC’s wishlist HERE and e-mail Claire Shanahan at cshana@Milwaukee.gov or cal (414) 286-8199 to make arrangements to give back to clients in CoC programs!

PARTNER WITH OUR WARMING ROOM COMMITTEE:  Call Rafael Acevedo at (414) 286-5548 for more information on partnering with us in an effort to provide warming shelters.

If you would like to make any donations to the Continuum of Care for other needs, please email Rafael Acevedo, racevedo@milwaukee.gov.

Here are other several ways to help the Continuum work on its mission.
